Imagine having the tropics and the ocean right here in the desert of southwestern Idaho! Tropical-Marine Conservation Institute, Inc., turns imagination into reality. Our goal is create an environment to inspire, entertain, educate and promote understanding and appreciation of the delicate and diverse tropical ecosystem that affects our everyday lives.
These objectives will be accomplished through our Aquarium, Tropical Environment Center and Community Outreach Educational Programs.
Aquarium and Tropical Environment Center
The world-class facility being created by Tropical-Marine will be located central to the Ada and Canyon county areas of southwestern Idaho. The center will be a completely enclosed tropical environment that will include a one million gallon aquarium, tropical rainforest, theater style presentation room, youth discovery center and multiple classrooms for training and education. Rather than passive observation, our visitors and students will have the opportunity to interact with displays and exhibits to enhance the learning experience.
Aquarium
Containing more
than a million gallons of water and hundreds of species of marine life, our
aquarium will be one of the few in the world that allows for true interaction
from the general public. Walk through stunning exhibits and galleries; touch
marine animals at special displays; snorkel or dive from a sandy beach where you
will come face-to-face with many of our fish and other marine life.
Tropical Rainforest
As you enter one
of the most diverse habitats on earth, listen to the sounds of waterfalls and
exotic free flying birds; smell the fragrance of tropical flowers and plants;
experience and learn from dynamic interactive displays about this delicate
ecosystem.
Theater
The Theater will
provide quality audio/video presentations geared to entertain, educate and
inspire appreciation and respect for tropical and marine ecosystems. Films will
also promote environmental awareness and conservation of natural resources and
endangered species.
Youth Discovery Center
Complete with
games and very unique playground style equipment, this area will support and
bring a better understanding of previous experiences in the aquarium and
rainforest in a fun and interactive setting.
Classrooms
Several
classrooms will be available for private and public classes. These rooms will
be located next to our environment center for easy access to the plants and
animals being discussed in the classes. These rooms may also be available to
local groups and clubs to use as meeting facilities.
Breeding, Reproductive and Spawning Program
Tropical-Marine
Conservation Institute will be actively involved in promoting breeding,
reproduction and spawning of all of the many life forms housed in the
facilities. Through these activities we will provide the public with the
ability to take on their own projects by learning to care for these plants and
animals. We will also be able to introduce endangered species back into the
wild, to help the ongoing conservation of life on this planet.
